HSEQ Manager

SMS Towage Limited are looking to hire a HSEQ Manager to be based in the North East of England.

The ideal candidate for this position will succeed in the role if they have both knowledge and technical depth about the Marine towage industry and HSEQ. This is essential as they will be a central person in the decision making process, working with multiple individuals across different levels in the organisation and third parties.

As a result, they will be guiding, advising and following up on best practices in a challenging environment.

The HSEQ Manager of SMS Towage Limited has prime responsibility to drive an overall safe operation, an efficient Safety Management System and compliance with the ISM, ISPS and all other standards adopted by the company in relation to HSEQ.

Keep abreast and cascade within the company any new developments nationally within the designated field of Health, safety, Security, Environmental and Quality in the marine industry.

To render support and give professional advice as part of the Operations team to the General Manager and the other senior management team members, onshore staff and ship crews in the development and implementation of management systems and tools supporting improvements with regards to HSEQ performance and best business practises.

Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

Act as the company Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO) for SMST.

Ensure proper and timely planning, arranging and execution of internal audits of the Management System to assess compliance with ISM, ISPS, and subsequent ISO standards. This includes managing the trained audit team within the company.

Demonstrate sound risk management practices and ensure that these are well known to all relevant personnel and external partners and operators.

In close co-operation with the relevant Operational Team member within the company ensure that the vessels satisfy the customer requirements in relation to safety including safe operations, quality management and HSEQ procedural changes.

Establish HSEQ KPIs and benchmarks for operational personnel and vessel performance and demonstrate continual improvement through continued measurements.

Maintain performance of leading KPIs within safety, quality, security and performance for SMST.

Act as the HSEQ focal point for coordination and drive between the ports to ensure ever improving HSEQ performance in the company.

Support Commercial in the preparation of Quality and Safety procedures, practices and project specific HSEQ Plans for existing business and new business.

Identify and report on Quality and Safety related areas for improvement to the Management Team.

Ensure potential and high severity incidents are formally investigated, root causes identified and mitigations in place to protect personnel, third parties and the company.

Ensure the Annual Management Review is conducted and continuous improvement in the management system and processes are documented and cascaded within the business.

The creation, collection and processing of HSEQ monthly and annual statistics; for example and not limited to LTI/LTIf/TRC/TRCf, Proactive reporting and Near Misses. · Authority to intervene in any HSEQ matter where danger to life, safety, security or environment exists. · Conduct safety meetings and behavioural workshops with crews and onshore personnel.

Attend external HSEQ and Operational meetings as required to perform your role and be the safety ambassador of the company.

Qualifications

Marine sea going experience preferred with minimum OOW and preferably Master.

Formal qualification in HSEQ such as NEBOSH, IOSSH, Diploma

Lead auditor in ISM, ISPS & ISO9001

IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office suite.

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. · Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.

The ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.

Tug Masters

SMS Towage are the largest independent marine towage provider in the UK and are looking to recruit Tug Master's with ASD tug experience to work on our tugs based in the UK.

Applicants must have ASD tug experience and as a minimum hold a valid Yachtmaster Coastal qualification.

Successful applicant will be required to hold an ENG1 medical certificate and all relevant STCW certificaton.

Applicants must have a legal right to work in the UK, such as EU settled status or british frontier workers permit.

This is a time-for-time live onboard position.

Chief / Second Engineers

SMS Towage are the largest independent marine towage provider in the UK and are looking to recruit Chief Engineers to work on our tugs based in the Tees and South Wales.

Applicants must hold a COC minimum 3000kw or 2nd Chief Engineer with an endorsment

Successful applicant will be required to hold an ENG1 medical certificate and all valid relevant STCW certification.

Applicants must have a legal right to work in the UK, such as EU settled status or british frontier workers permit.

This is a time-for-time, live onboard position.
